A Father’s Lament

May 28, 2018 (108 words)

One minute, your house is full of cute little kids whose mission in life is to bounce around and spread joy.

The next minute these same sweet children have become surly young adults, who stride about with an abundance of attitude in search of a purpose.

Then, the very next minute after that, they are for all intents and purposes gone. No longer functioning under your auspices, impervious to suggestion or advice, and determined to make their own way in the world.

Certain loses are final, and childhood is definitely one of those.
